Questions for Dr. Tathali Urueta-Ortiz

  1. We were interested in your comment that the garden was a “co-teacher”. Was this in relation to the role of the garden in the re-construction of student identity? In a field trip to a museum, is the museum similarly a co-teacher?
  2. How important was the choice of location for the interviewing of the children? Does the choice of space affect the students’ engagement with the questions?
  3. How much you your identity is concerned with your role as a researcher? At UBC (and probably every 3rd level institution) your research focus seems to be “who you are” in many ways; we ask this because, as MEd students, we don’t have a particular focus or research interest and we feel that this, somehow, leaves us somewhat disconnected or rootless within the university.
  4. Did you your constructivist methodology lead you to your research or vice versa?
