I am studying How much L1 is appropriate? Teachers’ and
students’ perspectives of code-switching in ESL/EFL classroom because I want to find out how much L1
should be used in ESL/EFL classroom by investigating teachers’ and students’
perspectives of code-switching approach, so that we will know more about how can English be more efficiently taught to English language learners.
My research questions might be: 1). What
are teachers’ and students’ perceptions of code-switching? 2). What are the similarities
and differences of their perceptions? 3) Do teachers’ and students’ perceptions
implicate the extent to which L1 should be used? If yes, what are the implications?
This is a very interesting topic. With the increasing popularity of immersion learning, your study will hopefully provide essential insight into how and to what extent two languages are used in ESL classrooms and so much more! The article you chose in the other post will provide theoretical foundations to build your research.
ReplyDeleteHi Yuxi! This topic is indeed very relevant given the increasing population of immigrants and people who need to learn English. The questions you asked are also very pertinent and will surely contribute a lot to your research.
